Tour to Muynak
In order to get the answer to this question partially, have a trip to the city Muynak - a live evidence of the Aral Sea tragedy.
The city of Muynak was once situated on the shores of the Aral Sea, today they are separated by about 100 kilometers. The lake, which was revered as a sea for its great beaches, abundant fishes and very large sizes, today it has almost turned into a desert, and the local people call it Aralkum (by analogy with the Kyzylkum desert).
Once, sea vessels went on the water of sea-desert, which today stand in the port of Muynak on the famous "ship cemetery". Perhaps they will never surf the waves of the Aral Sea again. They just stand, abandoned. Corrose and sink into nothingness ...
Shipping on the Aral Sea was ended in 1970, which reports dryly testify. But back in the late fifties - early sixties, sea waves rolled on Muynak, flooding its quays, as elder livers remember.
Today, there is not left any of the sandy beaches, the fishermen can no longer boast of large catches, people leave their homes.
The hope that the sea will return again, fades away, the economy of the region is trying to adapt to the new conditions of existence, and the city-tragedy is still as half asleep and, how to know, maybe someday it will flourish again, as it was forty years ago.
